Utah has so many beautiful and diverse locations! And not only are these Epic Photoshoot Locations in Utah, most of them are also great places for a family outing or a date night!
Before I shoot anywhere, I look up photography rules for the area and book ahead if necessary. Our goal is to always LEAVE NO TRACE. Please respect these locations- misuse of them will lead to them no longer being available to photographers and the public!
Rowley's Red Barn Orchard, Santaquin Utah
The orchard is beautiful year round, but especially stunning when it's blooming in the spring. The trees typically bloom the end of April- early May. Currently there are no fees or reservations, but Rowley's has said this will change if people aren't respectful! Follow the rules so we don't lose this location like we've lost so many! And if you see a group not following the rules, say something!
I just want to point out that the blossoms my client is holding are fake ones I brought to the shoot. NEVER break branches off the trees!
Young Living Lavender Fields, Mona Utah
The Young Living Lavender Fields are a popular photography spot and with good reason! The fields yield gorgeous images! The Lavender is only in full bloom for a short time- usually late June and July. When The Young Living Farm starts booking photography spots they go quickly, so if this is something you want to do you need to decide early and make sure you book quickly. Don't try to shoot without reserving a session. You will be fined for trespassing.
Payson Canyon, Utah
Although the canyon isn't huge, there's a lot of variety to be had. Payson lakes and The Grotto Trail are probably the most popular. There are also some wildflower fields near the top. There's an area that was burned by wildfire a few years ago and has a pretty spooky vibe. Or dragon -fighting princess vibe. I've been wanting to do a shoot there.... who's game?
Eureka, Utah
Just west of Santaquin, Eureka is a small mining town full of character- anything from steampunk western, vintage/retro to apocalyptic vibes. Don't miss the mining museum, The Tintic B&B, and of course the old abandoned mine shafts. Be safe.
Little Sahara Recreation Area
Located West of Eureka, Utah, Little Sahara is exactly what it sounds like- impressive sand dunes in the west desert of Utah. Perfect for your desert-themed sci- fi shoots (Dune, Star Wars, Mad Max etc.) as well as high fashion and glamour shoots. The starkness of the landscape really highlights the subject.
Elberta, Utah
There are many small, rural towns throughout central Utah that can make a stunning backdrop for your photoshoot. Whether you need a folk-country, vintage americana, or an apocalyptic look we gotchu!
Moab, Utah
The most obvious locations in the area include Arches National Park and Canyonlands National Park. But there is beautiful red rock and epic scenery throughout the area. Sometimes it's best to avoid the crowds at the Parks.
Locations I would love to shoot at
There are definitely lots of fantastic locations in Central and Southern Utah I haven't done photoshoots at yet!
- Outpost X, Beryl Utah - pretty much like being on set in Star Wars, Dune, or any Sci-Fi/Apocalyptic movie
- Mystic Hot Springs, Monroe Utah - this would be a really fun location for a mermaid shoot!
- Goblin Valley State Park, Utah - Another epic Sci-Fi location! They actually filmed scenes from Galaxy Quest here!
- The Wave - incredible land formation in the red rock sandstone. It's a fragile environment and requires a permit rewarded through a lottery. If you don't win the permit, I have an alternative option. I just need someone who wants to do it!
