Utah has so many beautiful and diverse locations! And not only are these Epic Photoshoot Locations, most of them are also great places for a family outing or a date night!
Before I shoot anywhere, I look up photography rules for the area and book ahead if necessary. Our goal is to always LEAVE NO TRACE. Please respect these locations- misuse of them will lead to them no longer being available to photographers and the public!
Dimple Dell Park, Sandy Utah
Located in the heart of Sandy, Utah, this wild spot in the middle of the city is perfect for convenient and epic mountain views. The alpacas are big fans!
Little Cottonwood Canyon
Another beautiful canyon in the Wasatch Range, Little Cottonwood has a lot of variety. Small lakes, streams, and lots of trees- deciduous and evergreen varieties!
Big Cottonwood Canyon
Big Cottonwood is a large canyon, hence the name, but one of my favorite spots is the Storm Mountain area. Stunning mountain views, trees, fields, and awesome rock formations! Great for all your fantasy needs!
Wheeler Historic Farm, Murray Utah
Another great spot in the middle of the Salt Lake Valley, Wheeler Farm boasts historic buildings, barns, trails, fields, streams, bridges, antique vehicles, and gardens! Make sure you pay the photography fee- they will check.
International Peace Gardens, Salt Lake City Utah
Located in Jordan Park near downtown SLC, the International Peace Gardens host monuments to many countries from around the world. Arches, pillars, pergolas, statues, doorways and lots of trees and flowers make this a unique and varied shooting location. The cherry blossoms in the Japanese monument are particularly popular in the spring!
Memory Grove Park, Salt Lake City Utah
Memory Grove is located down a trail just east of The State Capitol in downtown SLC. Both locations together provide an abundance of options! The buildings and monuments are particularly useful for fairytale or period themes. It's also a popular park for dogs, so watch where you step!
Exchange Place, Salt Lake City Utah
The exchange place is a historic district in downtown SLC made up of about buildings. Not only are the old buildings and alleyways cool, there's also some fun murals, graffiti, and parking garages with epic views! Just make sure you pick the right parking garage and get permission to shoot there.
Private Pool, South Jordan Utah
In need of a mermaid paradise but stuck in the Utah desert? This private oasis in South Jordan is available to rent for pool parties and photoshoots! The rock grotto makes a stunning above-water mermaid hangout- and the pool is perfect for those epic underwater pics!
Bonneville Salt Flats, Utah
Need Sci-fi pics on another world? The Bonneville Salt Flats are like walking on a different planet! A 1.5 hour drive from Salt Lake City, the Salt Flats are a popular spot for all kinds of photography! And I know the best way to get out to the flats. Don't want to drive that far? Check out The Great Saltair as a wetter, historical alternative.
Tunnel Springs, North Salt Lake Utah
Tunnel Springs boasts a beautiful field of tall grasses overlooking the valley. There are also some interesting trees along the trail. I've never had problems, but people do see rattlesnakes in the area. You'll want to wear some good shoes.
Union Station, Ogden Utah
This historic train station is now a museum and features old trains and stunning architecture. It's perfect for vintage glamour (ala Orient Express) Hogwarts Express, the Polar Express, or Steampunk vibes!
Denzil Stewart Nature Park, Logan Utah
Moving further north, Denzil Stewart Park is just one example of all the excellent, wooded locations in and around Cache Valley! I grew up here so if you need more ideas for the Cache Valley area, please contact me!
Bear Lake, Utah
If you've never been to Bear Lake, it's time to remedy that! It's a great little vacation spot and perfect for all your lake/ocean photo needs in Utah. It's especially nice mid-late summer when the water isn't as cold and you need a break from the city heat.
